This large school occupies some historic buildings in the heart of the town of Witney, and is celebrating its 350-year anniversary this year. Students come from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds. The proportion known to be eligible for free school meals is very small. Most are White British. The proportion with special educational needs and/or disabilities is below average, but the proportion with a statement of special educational needs is broadly average. The special educational needs and or/disabilities of these students include mainly specific or moderate learning difficulties, behavioural, social and emotional difficulties, autistic spectrum disorders, or speech, language and communication needs. The school became a specialist language school in 2001 and received further specialist designation in science and mathematics in 2006.
