Why St Dominic's Priory School

Are you looking for a school that offers your child a wide range of experiences so that they can best decide what excites and motivates them? A school that believes in teaching self respect and individual responsibility while embracing the importance of others? A school where each child is recognised and cared for throughout the school? A school that works with students to realise their true potential? If you are, then St Dominic’s Priory School, Stone could be the best school for your child.

Boys and girls are welcome from ages 2-11 and we provide a rich and varied environment for them all. In the Senior School, however, we believe all girls education offers the best route to academic success and is one of the prime movers behind our examination success. Research has shown that  that single sex education provides an outstanding platform for success and all girls' school have sustained their leadership of league tables.

We firmly believe that we are the best school for our students. So much of what makes a great school great cannot be written down and described, it needs to be felt. It is the intangibles that matter. The atmosphere in the school, the relationship between teachers, students and parents, the quintessential ‘X’ factor. We have that ‘X’ factor. Don’t just take our word for it, come and see for yourself.

Aims and Ethos

St Dominic's welcomes children of all faiths and ethnic origins, and endeavours to ensure that the cultural and religious differences within our school community are recognised and respected.

St Dominic's Priory School has its origins in the educational work begun by the Dominican Sisters of Stone in 1856. The Catholic faith lies at the heart of our foundation and is essential to the character of the school. Every effort is made to enable students to experience the integration of faith and culture across all areas of the curriculum. As a Dominican school we are committed to the Dominican principles of academic study, community spirit, prayer and mission.

The School is noted for its family atmosphere, the small size of its classes and the individual attention given to each student. We aim to promote a strong sense of personal responsibility based on Dominican values, and to foster a spirit of partnership between students, staff, parents and the wider community. The pastoral system is regarded as essential to each student's personal and academic development. At present the school is working to achieve Healthy Schools status for we ardently believe that schools should promote the the emotional, psychological and physical well-being of each child.
