Severne Junior Infant and Nursery is an above average sized school of its type. The proportion of pupils from minority ethnic backgrounds is above average with the largest group being of Pakistani heritage. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is also high. The proportion of disabled pupils and those with special educational needs is average. More than three times the national average proportion of pupils are known to be eligible for free school meals. The school has part-time nursery provision; almost half of the Reception class did not attend the school's Nursery. There is a privately run before and after-school child-care provision, which is inspected separately. The school meets the current floor standards, which set the minimum expectation for pupils' attainment and progress. The school holds the Basic Skills Quality Mark and the Leading Parent Partnership award and has National Healthy Schools status.
