Lockleaze Adventure Playground, known locally as The Vench, is an 'open access' facility which was originally established in the early 1970s. It is jointly managed by Bristol City Council and a management committee, comprising of parents of children attending the provision and parents of children that formerly attended the provision. The group is located on a purpose built site on Romney Avenue. A maximum of 60 children attend the adventure playground. During term time, Lockleaze Adventure Playground is open each week day from 15:30 to 19:00. This changes to 18:30 during the winter months. On a Sunday the group is open from 11:30 to 18:30, closing for lunch from 14:00 to 15:00. During school holidays Lockleaze Adventure Playground operates from Sunday to Friday, from 11:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 18:30.
