Bruntcliffe School is much larger than the national average. It is situated in Morley in south Leeds and attracts students from both Leeds and Kirklees. Around one third of students are drawn from Kirklees and an increasing number come from Beeston. Some areas from which students are drawn are identified as being in the 10% most deprived electoral wards nationally. The school achieved specialist college status in business and enterprise in September 2005. It is set amongst industrial and retail parks which provide many business and enterprise opportunities. It collaborates with three other educational establishments locally to provide education for its students. The school has a smaller than average proportion of students with minority ethnic backgrounds. The proportion of students identified as having learning difficulties and/or disabilities is below the national average, but the proportion of students with statements of special educational needs is close to that found nationally. The school also has a large field for sports and other activities.
