Newham African Caribbean Alliance opened in 1994. It operates from a community centre in Plaistow in the London Borough of Newham. The group provides out of school care for children aged five to ten years and is registered to care for a maximum of 30 children under eight years at any one time. There are currently 30 children on roll. The group operates after school from 15.00 to 18.00 five days a week during term times and 08.45 to 18.00 Monday to Friday during the school holidays. All children have access to a secure, enclosed outdoor play area. The group supports children with learning difficulties and/or learning difficulties and those for whom English is an additional language. There is a total of three staff who work with the children, over 50% of whom have appropriate early years qualifications.
